New law in the field of copyright

On June 14 a new law in the field of copyright has entered into force – The Copyright Collective Management Law.

The new law transposes the European Union (EU) Directive 2014/26 /EU on collective management of copyright and related rights and multi-territorial licensing of rights in musical works for online use in the internal market.

The Law foresees conditions for a more efficient and transparent operation of collective management organizations (such as, "AKKA / LAA" and "LaIPA"), as well as authorizing authors` collective management organizations to grant multi-territorial licenses, i.e. licenses valid in several EU Member States. Such licenses can only be granted for online rights in musical works.
