Photographs from National Archives of Latvia are available on the Internet
The National Archives of Latvia has created a Photography module of the site „Redzi, dzirdi Latviju!”, where everyone can find information about the photographs collected by the archive from the middle of the 19th century to the present day and look at the photos.
The newly created Photography module provides content and visual information on more than 6,500 photo documents. The National Archives of Latvia offers a look at the photographs of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, reflecting Riga's urban environment 150 years ago, allowing to explore the streets, parks, bridges, squares, buildings and monuments of Latvia’s capital. The photos feature Riga Castle, streets and houses of the Old Town, Riga railway station square, Esplanade, Blackheads' House, Town Hall Square, Riga Harbor, Vērmanes garden and many other places that have changed through times or even no longer exist.
In 2016 the archive created the Film module of the site www.redzidzirdilatviju.lv, which currently contains information on more than 7,500 films from 1910 to 2017, as well as more than 1,000 videos.
